Parabolic Directional Microphone System
The Parabolic Directional Microphone System is used world-wide for professional remote listening and surveillance, as well as professional audio and TV applications (nature recording, field audio for sports broadcasting, eavesdropping, law enforcement, and espionage). This parabolic microphone was designed specifically for listening over considerable distances. Field test results indicate that depending on factors such as the atmospheric conditions, extraneous noise, and amount of sound from the source, a distance of up to 150 m (500 feet) can be obtained.
The Parabolic Directional Microphone System is a microphone that uses a parabolic reflector to collect and focus sound waves onto a receiver, in much the same way that a parabolic antenna (e.g. satellite dish) does with radio waves.
This ready-to-use Parabolic Directional Microphone System is a handheld or tripod-mounted highly directional 24″ parabolic microphone. It has two comfortable grips on either side of the dish making it easy to hand hold and aim. The bottom of the unit has a mounting plate with 1/4″ threads for mating to a tripod for fixed or aimed shots.
The isolated microphone mount accepts most lapel, handheld or shotgun microphones giving you complete control over the audio you are expecting. It will even accept a different mount if you prefer. The microphone is aimed to the rear center of the dish where the audio is concentrated and directed into the microphone’s element. Audio can be picked up from as little as 3 feet or as much as 500 feet depending on wind and weather conditions. Each Parabolic Directional Microphone System is supplied with tripod mounting hardware and a 5-foot microphone cable.
